Young People and Young Adults

Choosing the right Police and Crime Commissioner will be really important for young people and young adults even though many of you are prevented from participating in the election due to your age. Sadly this does not prevent your age group from being disproportionately impacted by crime and this is primarily as victims. I feel very angry that the Government has used images of young people exclusively to illustrate criminals in their adverts for this post. As your Police and Crime Commissioner I will work with Sussex Police to try to provide all of you with support if you ever feel at risk in your home or on the streets of Sussex, and I hope that you can help us to ensure other people in Sussex are protected. I am proud to be the only Sussex PCC candidate to sign up to both the UR Boss campaign by the Howard League for Penal Reform and the Youth Charter which is a campaign by a number of combined Youth agencies. I was the first Sussex candidate to sign up to both of these and I am passionate about working constructively with young people.

I have a lot of experience of working to provide services for young people and young adults, for over 10 years I was a Trustee of Sussex Central YMCA which provides accomodation and other vital services for families and people aged up until 25 across Sussex. If you are a young adult or young person and would like to know why I think these campaigns matter, or have any other comments to make, please get in touch with me.
